Kava Coffee doesn't ask to be found. It sits quietly under a residential building in a corner of the city you wouldn't pass through unless you were already heading there. There's no signage doing the heavy lifting, no foot traffic pulling you in. The kind of place where the regulars have a quiet satisfaction about knowing it exists.

The space

Inside, it earns the hype. Cozy and artistic without trying too hard. Paintings line the walls, books fill the shelves, and jewellery sits on display. It feels lived in rather than staged. The pastry case was well stocked and genuinely tempting. Everything looked fresh and well made. I ordered a flaky croissant with pesto, fresh mozzarella, tomato, and lettuce. It arrived exactly as described, with high quality ingredients and a clean build that didn't try to do too much.

The kind of café that feels like a curated hangout rather than a coffee shop. Because that's exactly what it is.

The cup

The raspberry matcha was the order. The raspberry added a clean sweetness that worked well with the milk, and the drink overall was balanced and easy to enjoy. Where it pulls back slightly is the matcha itself. The flavour leans more milky than earthy, with the green tea sitting in the background rather than leading. If you are coming for a bold, earthy matcha, adjust expectations. If you are looking for a well made drink in a great space, it delivers.

Kava Coffee — Raspberry Matcha
Sweet, smooth, and enjoyable. The raspberry sauce shines more than the matcha, but the drink works on its own terms.

Worth knowing

The food is a genuine draw here, not an afterthought. The croissant was one of the better ones I've had at a café in the city. Give yourself time to browse the pastry case, it's worth the deliberation. The atmosphere alone is reason enough to visit, and the matcha is a solid companion to it.

A hidden gem in the truest sense. The matcha leans more lifestyle than ceremony, but the full experience, the food, the space, the quiet energy of a room that doesn't need to announce itself, makes it worth the trip.
